Darkroom bound
This week the Level 0 students have been pretty much independant, I have been there for advice and help if needed but they seem to be very confident and I have been encouoraging them to make their creative decisions for themselves and to not seek approval. I have been asking them to feedback to me and evalute their prints so they can learn from their mistakes but have the courage to believe in their work. This is something i struggles with myself and it can be really hard not to keep asking for approval all the time. I hope i have managed to impart this lesson well!
Out on the road with Camper!
We went along to Flora Court with Camper today, what an experience! The kids were nothing if not hectic but i had a really good laugh with them! I hope that every day is a good as this one!
Week 3 with Level 0
Week 3 has seen some great images coming from the students, I have really enjoyed working with them and i think i have helped quite a bit this week. Also Tim came down and watched me for a bit and said i was doing really well. Some of the students have reported back to him that I have helped them out and have contributed a lot to their understanding in the darkroom :D what a great week!
Camper Obscura
I have been helping out on Camper Obscura on the Hoe this week and I have had a great time! It has been fab to engage with the public and talk to them about my passion of photography. I have also had the oppportunity to meet a few fellow students, past and present, that were helping out as well. I hope I can keep this up for the summer :)
Week 2 with the Level 0 students
It has been a good session this week. I have taught a few students how to split grade which has added another dimension to their images. I think the lesson for this week is lots of test strips will give you the opportunity to get a perfect image. It is nice that there is a number of mature students who I can obviously connect with as I am a mature student myself. I have found the younger students a bit more difficult to engage with but i think i am getting there!

Time to resurrect this blog......
.....clear.........shocking!!!!
Ok it appears to be alive, thank god!
So I have started work experience with the Level 0 students on their dark room projects this term. I think my first session has gone well and there are some talented students amongst them. So far I have been there for their project briefing and have supported them in the darkroom........there are some know-it-alls but mostly they are keen to learn and very engaged with their learning. I look forward to next week!

Would forget my head.....
.....if it wasn't screwed on!!!! Forgot to post my evaluation on here from my WBL, so here it is better late than never ;)
Work Based Learning has been very insightful, although alot of it was aimed towards people wanting to go into commercial photography I was able to tailor it to my chosen career path quite easily. I have managed to secure work experienc with Extended degree students, helping them with their darkroom practises and hope to continue this on next year. I have also been able to set up a work placement at a local community college to sample teaching at secondary level as well.
I have found the lectures helpful with other areas within my college life, especially my presentation skills!! And I have managed to update my CV something which i haven't done for a few years so it was really in need of attention.
I am looking forward to putting my research from this module into practise next year and pushing on with my chosen career path. I have been given much encouragement with this from all of my lecturers and hope that I am building the skills needed throughout this module.
